# Fracture Depth Levels: Surface, Medium, and Extreme

> Choose the right audit depth for your revision goals — from a fast pre-submission check to a full research-grade teardown of every claim.

Depth controls how much the engine produces and who the report is written for. Each level is calibrated to a different revision goal, so picking the right one saves you time and keeps the feedback actionable.

> **Surface**
>
> A fast pass focused on the two or three things that matter most. Best for a quick check before submitting a draft you are already reasonably confident in.

> **Medium**
>
> The default. A full audit with claim analysis, assumptions, counterarguments, a source check, and a complete revision path. Covers everything you need for serious revision.

> **Extreme**
>
> The deepest read. Eight or more priority fixes, a full dependency graph, an expanded attack tree, and extra argument angles to research. Built for high-stakes work.

## Comparing the Depth Levels

| | Surface | Medium | Extreme |
| - | - | - | - |
| Priority fixes | \~3 | \~5 | 8+ |
| Counterarguments | Few | Several | Many |
| Dependency graph | Minimal | Standard | Detailed |
| Audience | Casual writer | Serious student or debater | Researcher or competitor |

## When to Choose Each Depth

**Surface**

* Run a quick check right before submitting a nearly-final draft.
* Use it as a first read on a very rough draft to identify the single biggest issue before going deeper.

**Medium**

* Run a standard audit before a debate round or assignment submission.
* Choose Medium when you have time to work through a full revision path and want every major issue addressed.

**Extreme**

* Use Extreme for high-stakes competitions where an opponent will look for every possible opening.
* Choose it when writing a dissertation or long-form research piece that requires full claim dependency mapping.
* Run it when you want every possible attack found before you finalize your argument.

> [!TIP]
>
> Start at Medium for most audits. Move up to Extreme when you are preparing for a high-stakes round or putting the finishing touches on a final submission — that is when the extra priority fixes and expanded attack tree earn their keep.
